Indio is located in Riverside County, in the Coachella Valley of the Colorado Desert region. It is located approximately 127 miles East of Los Angeles and 23 miles East of Palm Springs. Founded in 1876, Indio was originally a railroad town before blossoming into an agricultural region and becoming the home of the USDA's Date Station. Indio is now one of the largest producers of date crops and products in the United States.
